    Texas Bowl Opt-Outs And Injury Report: Top Players Not Participating In LSU vs Houston

    The Houston Cougars will seemingly have the home-field advantage as they face the LSU Tigers at this year’s Texas Bowl at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Both teams came into the season with a ton of hype, but have seemingly sputtered out later in the season. Now, both teams seek to end the season on a high note by winning a bowl game.

    Players from both sides may possibly miss the Texas Bowl due to injuries, opting out due to having entered the transfer portal, declaring for the NFL draft or other reasons. The question now is, which among them will miss this contest?

    Texas Bowl: LSU vs.  Houston Opt-Outs And Injury Report

    • QB Garrett Nussmeier: Opted out, possibly entering NFL Draft
    • CB Mansoor Delaner: Opted out, possibly entering NFL Draft, potential first-round pick
    • S AJ Haulcy: Opted out
    • DE Jack Pyburn: Opted out
    • LB Harold Perkins: Opted out
    • LB Whit Weeks: Opted out
    • LB West Weeks: Opted out
    • OG Josh Thompson: Opted out
    • WR Aaron Anderson: Opted out
    • C Braelin Moore: Injured, Questionable
    • WR Nic Anderson: Injured

    Two LSU players, DT Ahmad Breaux and OL Carius Curne, have announced for the transfer portal, but both of them will still be playing at the Texas Bowl. Meanwhile, several players are potential opt-outs but have been listed on the depth chart, including DE Patrick Payton, WR Zavion Thomas, WR Chris Hilton (will play) and WR Barion Brown.

    Lane Kiffin has now taken over the head coaching job at LSU, but it will be interim head coach Frank Wilson who will be leading the Tigers against Houston at the Texas Bowl.

    • WR Stephon Johnson: Injured
    • C Demetrius Hunter: Left Program Last Dec. 8

    Not only will the venue be in Houston’s own home turf, but the Cougars are not facing as many roster problems as LSU, given that the school has been caught up in a lot of drama as of late.

    However, they do have potential opt-outs in RB Dean Connors and DE Eddie Walls. TE Tanner Koziol is also a potential opt-out, as he has accepted an invite to play in the Senior Bowl.
