The Texas vs. Vanderbilt matchup is one of this week’s most anticipated college football contests, as Arch Manning and the Longhorns seek to prove that they are still worth the hype. They take on one of this season’s biggest surprises, as Diego Pavia and the Commodores are considered on of the best college football teams today.
The game has now kicked off at Austin, as two of the Top 25 college football teams aim to prove themselves against one another. In front of their home crowd, the Longhorns drew first blood as wide receiver Ryan Wingo scored a 75-yard rushing touchdown.

Despite the great play that placed the Longhorns on top, 7-0, fans were not as impressed, with some of them believing that this would be credited to QB Arch Manning and not Wingo, while others were just simply slamming Manning.
“It’s a shame arch gets credit for 80 yards of that when he did f*ck all,” one fan pointed out.
“Somehow arch manning will get all the credit for this from the box score watchers,” added another person.
“Manning throws swing pass and Wingo runs it for 75 yd td* fixed it for you,” said another unimpressed fan.
“Even worse then I expected, I could’ve made that pass,” claimed another one.
“Wingo turns a short pass into a 75-yard TD. That’s a more accurate post.🤷🏾♂️,” another fan noted.
“LOL 1 yd pass for a 75 yd TD,” commented one X user.
That first quarter blitz happened right after the game started, and it really caught Vanderbilt by surprise. Mason Shipley scored an extra point and then added three points more thanks to a field goal punt later in the first quarter, putting the Longhorns up by 10.

Texas Considered the Slight Favorites Despite Vanderbilt Being Ranked Higher
The game is being played in Austin, which means that Texas has the homefield advantage coming into the game. However, Vanderbilt is ranked much higher, as they are No. 9 in the AP rankings, while Texas is only at No. 20. This begs the question, who do oddsmakers believe is the favorite?
The answer is actually Texas despite the Longhorns being ranked 11 places lower than the Commodores. They are currently the -3 betting favorites with an over/under of 46.5 points. The moneyline for Texas is -169, while Vandy has +142.
