Former Duke Head Coach Mike Elko is now in place in College Station, as he’ll attempt to transform the Texas A&M Aggies back into contenders.
But which teams will Elko game plan for in 2024? And with the Southeastern Conference adding Texas and Oklahoma, will the Aggies tangle with their past Big 12 rivals? Here’s a look at next year’s slate.

Even with the realignment, some rivals remain. Some will even have their chance at the Aggies for the first time in a long time.
Texas A&M and Texas are pulling off the latter — renewing its historic rivalry for the first time after a 12-year absence. When the Aggies left for the SEC back in the first realignment cycle, it ended the Lone Star Showdown. Now, that game resumes — this time as an SEC contest. With the Longhorns back on the Aggies’ schedule, that could be an indicator that both will be in the same division once the SEC finalizes their realignment.
Meanwhile, the Aggies still have the Arkansas Razorbacks on deck. The 2024 Southwest Classic will head to AT&T Stadium in Arlington once again.
MORE: Mike Elko Named Texas A&M Head Coach
Going back to the season opener, Elko won’t have an easy A&M debut. He and the Aggies kick off the year against a Fighting Irish team coming off a 9-3 regular-season campaign. Still, Elko will have this early advantage. He has the 12th man on his side, as that game will be played at Kyle Field.
Noticeably missing from Texas A&M’s 2024 schedule is Ole Miss and Alabama. Both were SEC West division opponents the moment the Aggies joined the conference. Unfortunately for the Aggies, they won’t get a chance to avenge the 26-20 loss to the Crimson Tide during the 2024 regular season.
For the first time since 1991, the SEC will not feature divisions in the conference. The top two teams will square off at the end of the year in the SEC Championship Game to culminate the season. With Oklahoma and Texas in the conference this season, the 2024 campaign truly means more.
