Patrick Mouratoglou Accused of Throwing Shade at Roger Federer After Bold Alcaraz-Sinner Comment

Fans accused coach Patrick Mouratoglou of throwing shade at Roger Federer while commenting about Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Mouratoglou’s comments came after former tennis star Andy Murray revealed that the 20-time Grand Slam champion stopped practicing with him after a year or two.

Mouratoglou shared his explanation on why Federer might have opted to decline practice with Murray once he emerged as a serious threat.

“All those guys who are at the top of the game, they like to know the young players coming up,” Mouratoglou said. “So that’s why they like to play with them at the start, when they know they cannot beat them yet, to see how good they are and identify their weaknesses. Once they become really good, they don’t want to practice with them anymore because they want to be in a situation where they stop losing in practice, and they don’t want to show their own weaknesses.

Mouratoglou also shared why Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner practicing together isn’t the same.

“I know that Alcaraz and Sinner practice together quite often, but it’s a different situation. Neither of those two guys has weaknesses. That’s the thing,” the coach added.

Patrick Mouratoglou Gets Trolled For Alleging Roger Federer Had A Weakness

Fans took issue with Mouratoglou, who may have said that Federer had weaknesses in his game, but Alcaraz and Sinner don’t.

“Never heard more gross conclusion from @patrickmouratoglou provocatively tossed in the social arena to create buzz around the current No. 1-2 ATP players” weaknesses. Festive parties make damage Patrick huh 🙌” one fan commented.

“Jannik’s dropshot is a bit of a weak point,” another reacted.

“Pathetic take. Federer didn’t have a “weakness”. His weakest shot was still essentially one of the best in the world. Ridiculous analysis,” one fan noted.

However, some saw the other side of that take.

“Alcaraz and Sinner practice together cause they know that the rest cant give them a good sparring session. 😂” one fan wrote.

“Makes sense because Andy had the better of Roger during his initial years on tour(especially in bo3’s), leading the h2h 5-3 in their first 8 meetings,” another added.

“Everybody has weaknesses! It’s just a matter of time before you start noticing them on your opponent, but everybody has them!” another added.

“Sinner and Alcaraz is literally who has the better day wins,” one fan commented.

While there are not a lot of chinks in the armor of Alcaraz or Sinner, as they play more together, weaknesses would show up eventually, as it happens to every big star.
