Novak Djokovic Brutally Attacked by Federer-Nadal Fans After Controversial PTPA Announcement

Novak Djokovic has made a massive turnaround regarding his involvement with the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA). The 24-time Grand Slam champion has officially withdrawn from the PTPA, which he co-founded with Vasek Pospisil in 2020.

Djokovic made the decision public through a social media post on X:

“After careful consideration, I have decided to step away completely from the Professional Tennis Players Association.”

Djokovic, considered the biggest rival of retired tennis legends Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, faced fans’ fury following his controversial decision.

“Quits the union HE founded because it got too “radical” without him Starts a revolution for players’ rights, then bails when it actually fights the bosses Hypocrite GOAT or smart self-preservation?” one fan wrote.

“Nadal and Federer did not support this organisation and they are proved to be right each and every time #Fedal,” another fan reacted.

“This association was Novak’s brainchild. And in about 3 years’ time, they have achieved virtually nothing, and he is stepping away from it to protect his “image”.
A legacy truly befitting the man,” another fan reacted.

“@Olly_Tennis_ this is actually hilarious whole effort was a dog and pony show,” another fan added.

“Oh no, the PTPA goes from being useless to being even more useless,” another fan reacted.

“The goat steps away. 👏” one fan added.

Djokovic’s departure comes at a sensitive moment as the players’ organization is engaged in a high-profile antitrust lawsuit against the sport’s governing bodies (including the ATP and WTA). However, the Serb was not listed as a plaintiff in this case.

Novak Djokovic Not Happy With PTPA’s Direction

In the subsequent thread, Novak Djokovic expressed his disagreement with how the PTPA organization was governed.

“This decision comes after ongoing concerns regarding transparency, governance, and the way my voice and image have been represented,” Djokovic wrote.

Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil started this organization with an aim to land voice for the players. However, the Serb is no longer aligned with the organization’s approach, leading to his departure.

“I am proud of the vision that Vasek and I shared when founding the PTPA, giving players a stronger, independent voice – but it has become clear that my values and approach are no longer aligned with the current direction of the organization,” Djokovic wrote.

Keeping his values and integrity above all, Djokovic will continue to focus on contributing to the sport, as he has now put the PTPA in the rearview mirror.
