ASB Classic 2026 Day 6 Predictions For Iva Jovic vs Sofia Kostoulas, Elina Svitolina vs Sonay Kartal & More

Top seed Elina Svitolina and teen sensation Iva Jovic will headline Day 6 action at the 2026 ASB Classic. The two women will be vying for a spot in the semifinal of the WTA 250 event.

Also taking to court will be the likes of Wang Xinyu, Alexandra Eala, Magda Linette and Sonay Kartal. Here, we take a look at the prospects of the biggest names in fray on Day 6 of the 2026 ASB Classic:

    Iva Jovic vs Sofia Kostoulas

Iva Jovic has taken giant strides towards in terms of her overall standing on Tour in the last 12 months. A title at WTA 500 in Guadalajara and another at the 125k level in Ilkley helped her storm into the top-40 of the rankings and gain valuable experience.

The teenager has already posted two wins to start the new year. She faces another in-from youngster, Sofia Costoulas, who has already won four matches this week.

The Belgian came through qualifying before taking out Whitney Osuigwe and Kaitlin Quevedo to book a spot in her first Tour quaterfinal.

Costoulas plays an aggressive high-risk brand of tennis, but has not been tested on the big stage. Jovic knows what it takes to win even under pressure and that added experience should help her come through.

    Prediction: Jovic in straight sets

    Elina Svitolina vs Sonay Kartal

Elina Svitolina continued her strong start to the season with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Katie Boulter. She had also beaten Varvara Gracheva in straight sets, showing very little rust despite not having competed in nearly four months.

The Ukrainian now faces Briton in the form of Sonay Kartal, who has also enjoyed a successful time on court over the last year or so. The youngster made the second week at her home Slam in Wimbledon as well as the quarterfinal in Beijing.

While Kartal likes being on the frontfoot, her serve is rather attackable. Svitolina will come into the match knowing that and if she can capitalise on the weakness, using her won baseline prowess to out her opponent under pressure, she could well continue her winning return to action.

    Prediction: Svitolina in three sets

    Wang Xinyu vs Francesca Jones

Wang Xinyu has had to battle hard in her opening two matches of the season. The Chinese player, who made her first Tour final in Berlin last year, fended off Renata Zarazua and Caty McNally to book her quarterfinal spot.

In the form of Francesco Jones, Xinyu faces another strong all-court player who relies on her fitness and defensive prowess to win points.

The quick courts in Auckland do reward the big-hitter and Xinyu has the power to exploit that. Jones posted a stunning upset win over Emma Navarro in the opening round, but faced with brute power that the Chinese player can create off the ground, she may find herself on the backfoot far too often in this one.

    Prediction: Xinyu in straight sets

    Alexandra Eala Vs Magda Linette

Expect a tough fight between a seasoned campaigner and fast-rising youngster. Prediction: Linette to win
