Hong Kong Tennis Open 2026 Day 4 Predictions: Men’s Singles Ft. Musetti Vs Etcheverry, Rublev Vs Wu

Day 4 (Wednesday, Jan. 7) of the 2026 Hong Kong Tennis Open will mark the second full day of play of the ATP 250 event, with several top names set to take to the court.

The opening round saw fifth seed Lorenzo Sonego, sixth seed Gabriel Diallo, and seventh seed Alexandre Muller advance in straight sets. Americans Michael Mmoh and Marcos Giron also progressed, while hometown favorite Coleman Wong delighted local fans with a win.

Top seed Lorenzo Musetti, third seed Andrey Rublev, and former US Open champion Marin Cilic are among those scheduled to compete on Day 4.

Here is a look at the predictions for all Day 4 singles matches at the 2026 Hong Kong Open:

    # Lorenzo Musetti vs. Tomas Martin Etcheverry

Top seed Lorenzo Musetti will open his 2026 campaign against Tomas Martin Etcheverry after finishing last season with a 45–22 record and a year-end ranking of No. 7. Etcheverry, who ended 2025 with a 26–30 record, began his season with a straight-set win over Valentin Royer in the first round. Musetti leads the head-to-head against Etcheverry 2–0, including a 6–3, 6–4 victory in Vienna last year, and holds a slight edge in their career hardcourt winning percentage. Etcheverry has yet to record his first win over a top-10 opponent.

Pick: Musetti to win in straight sets.

    # Andrey Rublev vs. Wu Yibing

Third seed Andrey Rublev will begin his campaign against Wu Yibing after already securing a doubles win alongside Karen Khachanov. Rublev is coming off a modest 2025 campaign, finishing 34–25 with one title in Doha. On the other hand, Wu ended the year with a 5-5 record and kicked off his 2026 campaign with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Fabian Marozsan.

Rublev holds a 1-0 lead in their head-to-head series, having won in Halle in 2023. He enters this contest as a past champion at the venue and with a superior hardcourt record.

Pick: Rublev to win in straight sets.

    # Marin Cilic vs. Nuno Borges

Marin Cilic opened his 20th season on tour in emphatic fashion, defeating Adrian Mannarino 6-3, 6-2 with a dominant serving display that included nine aces and an 89 percent success rate on first-serve points. The 37-year-old also converted three of six break points.

Borges also advanced in straight sets, beating Damir Dzhumur 6-4, 6-3 with strong baseline play and five breaks of serve. Cilic won their only previous meeting in 2021, and with both players coming off impressive opening wins, the contest is likely to hinge on serving efficiency and break-point execution.

Pick: Cilic to win in three sets.

    # Gabriel Diallo vs Coleman Wong

Pick: Diallo to win in three sets.
