Top seed Lorenzo Musetti will face third seed Andrey Rublev in the semifinals of the 2026 Hong Kong Open on Saturday, January 10.
Musetti began his campaign with a hard-fought comeback win, rallying past Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6–7(3), 6–2, 6–4 in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. He followed that up with a straight-sets victory over home favorite Coleman Wong, winning 6–4, 6–4 to secure his place in the final four.
Rublev, the 2024 Hong Kong Open champion, also opened his 2026 season with a comeback win. The Russian recovered from a set down to defeat Wu Yibing 3–6, 6–2, 6–1 in his opening match. He then produced a more clinical display in the quarterfinals, dispatching eighth seed Nuno Borges 6–3, 6–4.
Lorenzo Musetti vs Andrey Rublev Head-to-Head And Matchup
Musetti and Rublev have faced off just once in the past on the ATP tour, way back in 2020 in Dubai, with Rublev winning that encounter 6-4, 6-4.
Rublev is likely to relish the conditions in Hong Kong, a surface that has delivered him strong results in the past. Musetti, by contrast, has enjoyed the bulk of his success on clay and grass.
Lorenzo Musetti vs Andrey Rublev Expert Prediction, Top Bets & Odds
Musetti enters this matchup on the back of a strong previous season, finishing with a 45–22 win–loss record, compared to Rublev’s 34–25. Rublev, however, managed to secure one title last year, while Musetti has not lifted a trophy since 2022.
Rublev also holds the edge on hard courts and boasts a solid record in Hong Kong, where he has won the tournament previously. Both players have had similar routes to the semifinals, each needing three sets in the opening round before advancing in straight sets in their last match.
Musetti was sharp on return and effective at the net in his last outing, converting three of six break points and winning four of five points when coming forward. Rublev, meanwhile, was dominant on serve, not dropping serve once, firing seven aces, and winning 89 percent of points behind his first serve.
Although the contest is expected to be closely fought, Rublev’s experience and surface pedigree suggest he could emerge victorious, despite entering the match as the underdog.
Top bets: The match will have at least 25 games, along with at least one tie-break.
