    Danielle Collins Career Update: American Signs Up for Unexpected Gig Amid Australian Swing Absence

    Danielle Collins turned heads after she announced her absence from the upcoming 2026 Australian Open. Since no reason was given, the news gave rise to speculation, given that she was one of the only players inside the top 100 not included in the entry list for the Australian Open.

    Another piece of news has dropped about Collins. The Tennis Channel has named her in their commentary team next week as part of their coverage of the Summer Down Under swing, which includes events leading into the Australian Open and tournaments such as the United Cup and Brisbane International. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that she has retired from tennis, given that doing commentary while injuries are not uncommon in the sport.

    Collins actually hinted about the same in her earlier social media post where she announced her withdrawal from competitive tennis this month.

    Danielle Collins Reveals Reason Behind Australian Open Absence

    As retirement buzz picked up, Danielle Collins directly addressed why exactly she wasn’t part of the entry list of the season’s first Grand Slam. Collins explained she won’t participate in the Australian swing as she continues to recover from lingering physical issues and focus on off-court goals. In the same

    “I will not be competing during the first part of the year. But you will be seeing me in a different capacity with @tennischannel 🎤 This is all I will be sharing for now. More updates to come 😉” she said in her social media post.

    In her social media post, she also mentioned the reasons that have held her back from competing for the last few months.

    “I’ve been taking the last few months off to recover from the back injury I had at the end of the season,” she wrote.

    Moreover, she also informed her followers that she’s been undergoing fertility and family-planning procedures. She added:

    “I’ve also been undergoing a few egg freezing procedures 🥳🥚 It’s been one of the coolest things I’ve honestly ever done! But at the same time these hormones I have had to be on are a real b**** 🤣🎢 I am so fortunate for the friends that have been helping take care of me during this time 🤍 I have one more procedure to go.”

    It remains to be seen if Collins will return to competitive tennis.
