The top two women’s seeds at the United Cup 2026, Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff, are set to face off when Poland takes on the United States in the semifinals on Saturday, January 10.
Swiatek kicked off her 2026 campaign with a hard-fought comeback victory over Germany’s Eva Lys, rallying to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in Poland’s opening tie. She followed that up with a more comfortable 6-3, 6-2 win against the Netherlands’ Suzan Lamens before registering her third consecutive victory, dismantling Australia’s Maya Joint 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.
Gauff also opened her season in commanding style, dispatching Argentina’s Solana Sierra 6-1, 6-1. She then suffered a setback in the United States’ final group-stage tie, falling to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-1, 6-7 (3), 6-0. The American bounced back strongly in the quarterfinals, defeating Maria Sakkari 6-3, 6-2 to book her place in the semifinals.
Coco Gauff vs Iga Swiatek Head-to-Head And Matchup
Gauff and Swiatek have faced each other 15 times on the WTA Tour, with Swiatek holding an overall 11–4 advantage. Gauff, however, has had the upper hand in their last three meetings, including a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory in Madrid last year and a 6-4, 6-4 win at the United Cup, also in 2025.
Despite that recent trend, Swiatek leads their head-to-head on hard courts 6–3. Only one of their encounters has gone the distance, with Gauff emerging victorious in a three-set battle at Cincinnati, winning 7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-4.
Coco Gauff vs Iga Swiatek Expert Prediction, Top Bets & Odds
Gauff enters the contest having played six matches at the United Cup this year, winning five of them. Apart from her second match of the tournament, where she struggled on serve, she has looked solid throughout, consistently asserting herself in baseline exchanges.
Swiatek, meanwhile, has also impressed after a slightly slow start. Following her opening match, she cruised through her next two encounters, dropping just seven games in total. The Pole has been sharp on return and effective at the net, while also spending considerably less time on court than Gauff, having won all three of her matches in straight sets.
Although most of their previous meetings have been one-sided, this matchup appears poised to be far more competitive. The outcome is likely to hinge on serving efficiency and which player capitalizes better on break-point opportunities.
Top bets: The match will have at least 25 games.
