Carlos Alcaraz has made changes to his pre-season schedule. While he was supposed to depart on Monday for the exhibition match against Jannik Sinner on Saturday in Incheon, South Korea, he has delayed his travel date by two days.
The Spaniard will instead now travel on Wednesday and will use the gap till then to spend time with his family, according to Mundo Deportivo. Later, after the exhibition match in South Korea, the World No. 1 will travel to Australia for the Grand Slam in Melbourne.
Alcaraz has already started preparing for the upcoming 2026 season following a split with long-time head coach Juan Carlos Ferrero. The partnership ended after over seven years and it resulted in Samuel Lopez receiving the promotion, becoming the Spaniard’s new head coach.
Alcaraz received the medical clearance and has hit the ground running in his preparations for the 2026 Australian Open, where he’ll look to win his first Grand Slam and add to his tally of six Grand Slams in total. The World No. 1 had four weeks of intense practice at the Real Sociedad Club de Campo de Murcia (his longtime home club).
Carlos Alcaraz To Play His No. 1 Rival At South Korea
Carlos Alcaraz, who is in Spain, will soon catch a flight to South Korea, where he’s scheduled to face his biggest rival, World No. 2 Jannik Sinner. The two will face each other on January 10, 2026, at Inspire Arena in Incheon, Seoul, South Korea. The match is being promoted as the Hyundai Card Super Match.
Earlier in the Six Kings Slams final exhibition match, Sinner took the win. The Italian even won the ATP Finals over Alcaraz. However, the Spaniard defeated Sinner in the finals of two out of three Grand Slams in 2025. As such, both will be itching to get a win here and start their 2026 campaign on a positive note.
After dominating the tennis over the last two years, sharing all Grand Slams between them, Sinner and Alcaraz have become almost inevitable in every competition they play. Some believe they are miles apart from anyone else in the ATP field. Since both are ranked back to back, they will be part of different draws at the Australian Open, where there is a good chance they could compete in the finals of the tournament.
