Brisbane International 2026 Day 5 Predictions: Men’s, Women’s Singles ft. Elena Rybakina Vs Paula Badosa, Brandon Nakashima Vs Quentin Halys

Elena Rybakina, Brandon Nakashima headline Day 5 action at the 2026 Brisbane International. Both players are looking to book their tickets into the quarterfinals.

Besides, the likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Madison Keys, Cameron Norrie and Grigor Dimitrov will also be in action. Here, we take a look at the prospects of the biggest names in fray on Day 5 of the 2026 Brisbane International:

    Elena Rybakina vs Paula Badosa

Elena Rybakina will take on Paula Badosa in the third round. The Kazakh was in solid form during her opener, taking out Zhang Shuai in two tight sets.

Up against the seeded Badosa, she will expect another tough fight. Both women possess powerful serves and big groundstrokes that are well-suited for the quick in Brisbane. But given the form that Rybakina is in (a 12-match winning streak), she should be able to take the win.

Prediction: Rybakina in two tight sets

    Quentin Halys vs Brandon Nakashima

Quentin Halys and Brandon Nakashima will lock horns in a battle of two big-serving players. The Frenchman has averaged 14 aces in his three matches (two qualifying) while the American also hit 15 in his only match in the tournament so far. With the two neutralising each other in that department, Nakashima’s stronger baseline game should help him sail over the finish line.

    Prediction: Nakashima in three sets

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard vs Rinky Hijikata

In another possible ace fest, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard will take on Rinky Hijikata. The Frenchman fired 24 aces en-route to a major upset over Tommy Paul in the last match. He was unable to break his opponent and will look to improve in that department. That said, his superior firepower and confidence from scoring a big win in his last match should make the favorite against the Aussie.

Prediction: Mpetshi Perricard in three sets

    Grigor Dimitrov vs Rapahel Collington

Grigor Dimitrov will need to be wary of qualifier Rapahel Collington, who upset Denis Shapovalov in his last match. The Belgian went for the return, creating as many as 12 break chances against a strong server. Fortunately, Dimitrov also looked to be in good touch during his 6-3, 6-2 win over Pablo Carreno Busta. Australia is a place where the Bulgarian’s all-court game has come alive on more occasions that once, and if he can keep his unforced error count in check, he should end up possessing too much variety and power for Collington to handle.

    Prediction: Dimitrov in straight sets

    Cameron Norrie vs Aleksandar Kovacevic

Cameron Norrie and Aleksandar Kovacevic came through tough opening-round opponents in the form of Ugo Humbert and Nick Kyrgios, respectively. The latter was clinical in his win taking 2/2 break chances that came his way to take the win. Norrie, meanwhile, battled in a three-set marathon. The Briton’s steady game held up well under pressure and his wealth of experience could prove valuable if this gets tight against Kovacevic  as well.

    Prediction: Norrie in three sets
