American tennis sensation made his relationship with Washington Spirit star Trinity Rodman when he uploaded a cozy elevator selfie in his Instagram photo dump from March. Since then, the duo has made plenty of strides in their relationship, from supporting each other to engaging in adorable off-field moments. However, until now, it was not known how their first meeting went.
In her latest Instagram live session, Rodman and Shelton were enjoying their drinks at a cafe while answering questions from their followers. A fan asked how they first met, to which Rodman answered:
“How did y’all meet? Um, I DMed him, and he responded. I was like, ‘Hey, when are you gonna come visit me?’ And he was like, ‘I’ll come right now.’ So then he flew out, and the rest is history.”
As Rodman was revealing the details, Shelton, sitting behind, felt shy and even hide his face.
Rodman and Shelton also participated in some viral TikTok videos. The soccer traveled all the way to England to watch Shelton compete at the Wimbledon championship. She was also present at Flushing Meadows in the US Open. Meanwhile, Shelton, too, has made an effort to watch Rodman’s soccer games. He was present and even comforted Rodman after she lost the NWSL championship game.
Trinity Rodman Finds His Soulmate In Ben Shelton
In less than a year, Trinity Rodman has made up her mind that Ben Shelton is indeed her “soulmate.” On New Year’s Eve, she welcomed 2026 with a passionate kiss to Shelton, and she also shared that moment with her followers on Instagram.
“2025 you were somethin… thank you for bringing me my soulmate❤️ @benshelton,” she wrote in the caption.
The duo was even part of a fun soccer challenge where Shelton’s football skills were tested. The duo was tasked to take penalties, and the ball must go through the marked area tagged with the corners. The photos of the two were also placed and upon hitting them, it was decided that the individual would get five points instead of one.
As expected, Rodman was way too good and humbled Shelton. But she was left impressed with Shelton’s soccer skills and joked that if he practices daily, he can match her level someday.
