“F**king Crazy” – Alexander Zverev Explodes In Angry Outburst During Shock United Cup Loss To World No. 83

Alexander Zverev, the current World No. 3 in men’s singles tennis and a 24-time career singles titlist, suffered a chastening and humbling loss to the 83rd-ranked Hubert Hurkacz in the 2026 United Cup tie between Germany and Poland.

At one stage of the match, Zverev, incensed as he was taking a breather with the rest of the German contingent surrounding him, lashed out, as he expressed his bewilderment about his Hurkacz’s thundering serve despite the Pole having spent several months on the sidelines prior to his participation in the international mixed team tennis tournament.

The three-time Major runner-up ultimately lost the Round Robin phase encounter 3-6, 4-6. As he channeled his frustrations during the encounter, Alexander Zverev said (translated from German):

“Why am I not serving? No, he hasn’t played for two f**king years, and he’s serving at 230 km/h. In the evening, when it’s cold, f**k, it’s f**king crazy. The guy can barely f**king walk, and he’s serving.”

Following Alexander Zverev’s loss to Hubert Hurkacz, Poland’s Iga Swiatek downed Germany’s Eva Lys to settle the tie in the favor of the Polish contingent.

“I was just trying to cherish and enjoy every moment here on the court today” – Hubert Hurkacz after stunning Alexander Zverev at 2026 United Cup

Following his stunning victory against Alexander Zverev at the 2026 United Cup, former World No. 6 Hubert Hurkacz touched on the difficult times he and his team had to go through for him to be fit enough to play at this year’s edition of the annual international mixed team tennis event. The 28-year-old Pole said:

“It’s been a while since I’ve been competing, seven months. I’ve been going through difficult times with the team and it was very challenging. I was just trying to cherish and enjoy every moment here on the court today.”

Despite the defeat, Alexander Zverev and the rest of the German contingent would be fairly happy to know that Germany still tops Group F at the 2026 United Cup. However, things are set to get tense as far as the group is concerned as its final round of Round Robin phase matches are just around the corner.

Whether or not Germany finishes top of the group depends on the result of the tie between Poland and the Netherlands, which is set to be played out on Wednesday, January 7.
