Alcaraz Snubbed to Favor Sinner in Bold Australian Open Prediction: Ex-American Pro Explains Why

Jannik Sinner had a great season last year, where he won two Grand Slam titles, alongside winning his second straight Nitto ATP Finals title. The Italian will aim to carry the positive momentum from last year and make 2026 memorable as well.

Discussing men’s tennis in 2026, former American tennis players Sam Querrey, John Isner, Steve Johnson, and Jack Sock sat together for some fiesty insider perspectives on the “Nothing Major” podcast.

In the bold takes segment of the show, Isner began the discussion by saying he expects someone other than Sinner and Alcaraz to win a Major this year.

    Querrey interjected him and said:

“I think Sinner is going to win all four Majors. So, my bold take is Sinner wins all four Majors this year. What’s more likely, Sinner winning all four or someone other than Sinner and Alcaraz winning one?”

Responding to Querrey’s question, the rest of the three agreed that it was more likely for Sinner to win all four Grand Slams in 2026 than for any other player other than Sinner and Alcaraz to win one.

Former American Tennis Pro Leans Towards an Alcaraz-Ferrero Reunion in 2026

Soon after losing the title clash of the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals, Alcaraz made a shocking announcement in December, which was to part ways with his long-time coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero.
On the “Nothing Major” podcast, when asked about his bold prediction for the current calendar year, Sock exclaimed that he expected a reunion of the Spaniards. Ferrero has worked with Alcaraz since the latter’s teenage years and also guided the World No. 1 to six Grand Slam titles.
“I’m going to go with, I think for Alcaraz’s standards maybe a tiny bit of a lull and there’s going to be a Ferrero-Alcaraz reconnection at some point this year, back in the box. Work things out, put it aside, he’s [Carlos] going to miss looking over having what seemed like a almost family type of relationship with him,” said Sock.
Alcaraz is scheduled to face Sinner in an exhibition match in Seoul, South Korea, on January 10, which will be a fiery prelude to the ‘Sincaraz’ rivalry heading into the first Grand Slam of the new year, the Australian Open.
