Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar had plenty to celebrate in Week 2, both on and off the field. After transferring from Appalachian State in December 2024, Aguilar suited up for the Volunteers and immediately made his presence felt in their matchup against the East Tennessee State Buccaneers.
The Vols rolled to a commanding 72-17 victory, and Aguilar was at the heart of it. He completed 23 of 31 passes for 288 yards and tossed two touchdowns. But the highlight for Aguilar didn’t stop with his on-field dominance.
Postgame moments captured the quarterback sharing a kiss with his girlfriend, Rylan Moffitt, who had made her way to Neyland Stadium to cheer him on. Moffitt, dressed in Tennessee orange, was spotted supporting Aguilar from the stands alongside family and friends and later celebrated with him on the field.
Rylan posted several pictures and videos in a new Instagram post, showcasing the highlights of her day out. In the fourth picture, she can be seen kissing Aguilar after he helped the Volunteers register a dominant victory.
“it’s still JO6Y football forever,” she captioned her post.

As Tennessee looks ahead to tougher competition, Aguilar’s composure and consistency will be under the spotlight. But for now, the quarterback has already written his first memorable chapter with a big win, a strong stat line, and the support of loved ones right there to share it.

Joey Aguilar’s 82-Year-Old Grandmother Was at the Stadium
Joey Aguilar’s family is really proud of him and it’s evident from the way they support and talk about him. His 82-year-old grandmother traveled from California to cheer for her grandson as he took on the Buccaneers.
While speaking to Knox News, Aguilar’s mother, Lydia detailed the close relationship between the quarterback and his grandmother.
“She’s always been around Joey since he was born, so her and Joey are really close,” Lydia Aguilar said. “I’m not his number one fan, she is – and Joey knows that, and he appreciates having her here. So that was really big, and it was great to see.”
Lydia was also amazed by the incredible support that the Tennessee fans showed for the team.
“Man, these people go hard for this team, and I just love it,” Lydia Aguilar said. “I’m just soaking it all in. It’s just great to see the passion that they have for their team and for Tennessee. I just love it, it’s just great.”
Lydia said that Aguilar’s grandmother has always been supportive of his pursuits. She often cheers for him when she watches him on TV.
