5 Transfer Portal Landing Spots for Teddy Knox: Former SMU WR Could Seek Fresh Start at Blinn, Mississippi State

After entering the college football transfer portal as the spring deadline neared, where are some landing spots for SMU WR Teddy Knox?

On the final day of the spring transfer portal window, SMU Mustangs wide receiver Teddy Knox announced his intentions to transfer for a second time in his career. He’ll seek a fresh start after facing a suspension from team activities following an off-field incident in early April.

Where are some potential landing spots for Knox?

    Landing Spots for Teddy Knox

Knox started his career with the Mississippi State Bulldogs after being ranked inside the top 250 in his recruiting class. However, he transferred to SMU after failing to crack the rotation. There, though, he still struggled to find playing time.

After a suspension, the talented receiver may need a fresh start. Here are five potential landing spots for Knox.

    Blinn College

A Community College in Texas, Blinn has a great record of taking former major college football players and putting them back into the upper college ranks. Cam Newton, for example, stopped at Blinn between Florida and Auburn. Blinn is just an hour from Knox’s high school and would be a good place to get a fresh start.

    Tulsa Golden Hurricanes

Steve Spurrier Jr. was Knox’s original position coach at Mississippi State and has since moved to Tulsa. A step down in competition could allow Knox to find the field more consistently. Although Tulsa returns leading receiver Kamdyn Benjamin, they lost Devan Williams and Marquis Shoulders to the portal, potentially creating room on the roster.

    Mississippi State Bulldogs

This one feels like a long shot, but there are still coaches on staff who know Knox. Despite struggling to find the field the first time, he was a talented receiver, and the coaching staff hoped he could crack the rotation. This would be a pick of familiarity, perhaps as a walk on this time.

    Louisiana Tech Bulldogs

Louisiana Tech has traditionally been a safe landing spot for transfer receivers, and there’s room on the depth chart for one more.

Wide receiver coach Lorenzo Joe is an up-and-comer in the coaching world with deep ties to the state of Texas, where Knox had stops in both high school and college.

    East Mississippi Community College

EMCC is the community college of “Last Chance U” fame. The school has a reputation for giving second chances and working with players who struggled on the field for reasons that go beyond football. Could East Mississippi CC be a potential spring board onto bigger and better things for Knox?
