Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have officially gotten engaged. The three-time Super Bowl champion and the multiple-time Grammy Award winner dropped the surprise announcement on Tuesday. The pair has been dating since 2023, and Swift has since become a regular sight at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium VIP suites.

The announcement was made through a joint Instagram post, which showed the moment in which Kelce asked Taylor Swift to marry her. The couple added the following caption to their post:
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨”
It had been rumoured recently that the NFL star and the pop icon might be about to get engaged, after photos surfaced of them in what seemed to be an engagement party. Swift also went on the Kelce brothers’ podcast, “New Heights”, to announce her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl”.

The post also showed Taylor Swift’s new engagement ring, which, according to some reports, was designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.
It seems Kelce took a page out of one of her fiancée’s songs, “It’s a love story, baby, just say yes.”
How did Travis Kelce meet Taylor Swift?
In 2023, Travis Kelce attended one of Taylor Swift’s concerts of the “Eras Tour”. According to himself, he stayed behind hoping to catch a glimpse of the global superstar and to give a friendship bracelet (A staple of the Swiftie community). When he was unable to do so, he told the story to his brother, Jason Kelce, on “New Heights” and declared he was now on a mission to meet and date Swift.
It seems the gesture piqued the curiosity of the Grammy Award winner. She recently told Time Magazine:
“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” Ms. Swift told Time magazine of the couple’s relationship. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple.”
She also spoke about it on her own appearance on “New Heights” earlier in the month:
“He threw a man-tantrum,” she said. “It was such a wild romantic gesture to just be like, ‘I want to date you.’”
To this, Travis Kelce replied:
“All I remember is she didn’t want to meet me.”
It seems that it worked, with the long and highly reported dating history of Taylor Swift seemingly coming to a rewarding end.
