5-Star EDGE Tank Jones Drops Recruiting Hint That Has CFB Fans Reading Between the Lines

While the 2025 college football season has not started yet, many fans and analysts are already looking ahead to the 2026 recruiting class. One of the top players in the 2026 class is five-star Edge Anthony Jones, also known as Tank Jones. In a report from insider Hayes Fawcett on Friday, Jones indicated that he is down to his top three schools, Alabama, Oregon and Texas A&M.

While speaking with On3, Hayes indicated that one team is starting to separate itself from the pack.

This led to a big reaction from fans on X as they speculated about where Tank Jones could end up. Notably, many fans noticed that he is holding a trophy while wearing an Alabama jersey in the photo.

“Probably the team that allowed him to hold one of their many trophies,” one fan wrote.

“Lanning & co better be doing everything in their power to land this guy,” one fan commented.

“So bama gon take him and kj ford away from us, I’m sure,” one fan added.

Fans continued to react in the comments.

“If Oregon manages to secure this victory, they will have a legitimate chance to secure a spot in the top 5 class. However, facing tough opponents like Alabama and Texas A&M won’t be an easy task,” one fan wrote.

“Just look at the coaching staff and how they develop edge rushers at Oregon and what lanning did at Georgia also,” one fan commented.

“You really don’t want Aggie son. Check their trophy case,” one fan added.

Tank Jones Indicates That Alabama Is Leading the Recruiting Race for Him

While speaking with On3, Tank Jones did not leave much up for debate about which team is leading in the race to land him as a recruit.

“I would say Alabama,” Jones said. “For me, they started off behind everyone because of the new staff. But they’ve been very consistent with me, day by day. They aren’t pressuring me for a commitment, they’re very genuine and do a great job of that.”

Alabama has done a good job building its recruiting class this year, already securing commitments from four five-star recruits. According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Jones is another five-star recruit and the No. 16-ranked player in his class.
