Talyn Taylor Injury Update: Georgia WR Faces Major Setback Ahead of Kentucky Clash

The Georgia Bulldogs suffered a setback ahead of their matchup against Kentucky as wide receiver Talyn Taylor suffered a major injury at practice on Thursday. He suffered an upper-body injury that will require surgery. No definitive timeline for his return has been provided by Taylor or the coaching staff.

As a result, the No. 12-ranked Georgia Bulldogs will head into their matchup against Kentucky on Saturday with weakened wide receiver depth. Taylor only had two receptions for 28 yards this season. However, he has shown flashes of what made him such a highly sought-after recruit.

Unfortunately for Taylor, he also showed some of his inexperience against No. 10-ranked Alabama last week. He dropped a crucial deep ball that would have led to a TD for the Bulldogs.

Had he caught the ball, there is a good chance the Bulldogs would have walked away from the game with a win. Instead, they lost 24-21.

Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart Showed Support for Talyn Taylor After His Drop Against Alabama

While the drop against Alabama was one of the top reasons Georgia lost the game, Talyn Taylor still got a lot of support from his teammates and the coaching staff. Notably, on the Monday after the game, head coach Kirby Smart showed his support for Taylor.

“Talyn’s deal was tough, but Talyn will grow from it. He’s a tough, competitive kid. He practices his butt off,” Kirby Smart said. “Every time we’ve called his number, he’s answered it. He’s going to continue to do that. I mean, the guy’s a worker. I told him that, look, we’re going to come back at you and continue to use you, and just keep getting better. That’s all you can do: keep getting better. Block out the outside noise.”

Unfortunately for Taylor, he will not have the opportunity to bounce back for a while because of his injury. However, based on how Smart spoke about him, he will not need to worry about earning his spot on the roster when he returns.

The Georgia Bulldogs will continue the season without him. They are set to play Kentucky on Saturday at Noon ET.
