The Syracuse Orange are continuing to bolster their roster ahead of the 2025 regular season. Their latest move involves a former 5-star left tackle from the state of Virginia, Zach Rice.

Former 5-Star OL Zach Rice Commits to Syracuse
According to insider Hayes Fawcett, former North Carolina offensive lineman Zach Rice has committed to play for Syracuse this year. The No. 1-ranked offensive tackle in the 2022 recruiting class will be bringing a lot to the table for head coach Fran Bown and Co.

Rice’s 6’6″ frame and ability to get to the second level while blocking are what separates him from a lot of players at his position. A former multi-sport athlete in high school, Rice’s athleticism should do wonders for the protection scheme and rushing attack up in Central New York.
Fresh off of winning 10 games in Brown’s first season as head coach, the Orange are looking to continue that momentum into the 2025 season.
Syracuse Looks to Establish Itself as True Contender
Thanks to the play of former transfer and current Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback Kyle McCord, the Orange were able to sneak their way into a lot of important conversations during the 2024 season.
Winning 10 games by itself is pretty impressive, but doing it in the first year of a new head coach’s tenure in a very good conference makes it much more special.
That is why Orange fans have reason to believe that it was not just a one-year wonder.
Despite losing a veteran player like McCord to the next level, this team still has plenty to be excited about heading into the summer.
Veteran wide receivers Trebor Pena and Darrell Gill Jr. are back for another season, and the team acquired veteran quarterback Rickie Collins through the transfer portal.

While they might not have the excitement or expectations of a school such as Ohio State or Alabama, the Orange looks to have a great encore after a rebirth in 2024.
If Brown can find a way to get his team ready to roll in the same fashion as last year, the Orange could have something to say in the ACC race.
