The Texas Longhorns are one of the most dominant programs in college football. Over the past two seasons, they’ve posted a 25-5 record, a Big 12 title in 2023, back-to-back CFP semifinal runs, and 23 NFL draft picks in two years.
It appears that the Longhorns are not only dominating on the field but also excelling in the classroom. Academic excellence is not something you hear often with student athletes, but the Texas Longhorns are trying to show that they are not your regular cliche.

Texas Football Sets Record In First SEC Year, Team Posts 3.0+ GPA
Several weeks ago, Texas HC Steve Sarkisian had spoken about his anticipation of his team’s GPA, and the results should gladden his heart.
On May 15, Texas football posted on their social media handles that the team posted a 3.31 GPA for the spring semester, a new team record.

When Sarkisian was appointed head coach in 2021, the team’s GPA was 2.33, so this year’s result greatly improved. As a matter of fact, results in the classroom and on the pitch have been on the rise since Sarkisian landed in Texas.
In 2022, GPA jumped to 2.78. 8-5 on the field, and five NFL draft picks. In Year 3, GPA rises to 2.98, season record was 12-2, Big 12 champions, 11 players drafted. In his fourth year, 3.27 GPA in the fall, 13-3, SEC title contender, 12 draft picks, and 3.31 GPA this spring.
While Texas might be setting a new standard in the classroom, its gridiron product will be even more scrutinized. Following longtime QB Quinn Ewers’ departure to the NFL, Arch Manning is set to take the helm of the Longhorns’ offense.

They’ll kick off their campaign with a highly anticipated showdown — Texas will be traveling to “The Shoe” in Columbus to take on the national champion Ohio State Buckeyes in a College Football Playoff semifinal rematch.
