There are some coaching changes taking place in Austin, as Steve Sarkisian’s Texas Longhorns reassess following a disappointing regular season. After a lackluster performance of the running game in 2025, the school dismissed coach Chad Scott, who was the Longhorns’ running back coach this season.
According to a recent report by CBS Sports, the Longhorns could already have a replacement in mind.
“Sources tell @CBSSports that Jabbar Juluke is also now among the possibilities for the running backs coach opening at Texas, which parted ways with Chad Scott today. Juluke was Florida’s running backs coach and associate head coach the last four years,” wrote Matt Zenitz on X.

However, Juluke is also being targeted by the University of Kentucky, and he’s considered their first option, according to Zenitz. Juluke has worked extensively under Billy Napier at Florida and earlier at Louisiana. He wasn’t retained by the new Gators coach, Jon Sumrall.

Billy Napier on Jabbar Juluke
It’s clear that Billy Napier thinks highly of Jabbar Juluke, as he said the following about the coach ahead of this year’s season with the Florida Gators:
“Jabbar and I met when I was a graduate assistant at Clemson. He was a high school coach in New Orleans. Stayed in touch. We were very fortunate to get him to come to Louisiana from Texas Tech. Jabbar has impressed me…what I would say about Jabbar is he is a unique ability to get the most out of people.”
“You know, I think he has not only produced on the field, but has consistently produced a really good culture in that room, the way those guys respect each other, the selflessness,” he added.
It seems that this high opinion is shared by several schools in the SEC, as the reports of him being targeted by Texas and Kentucky have also surfaced.
