Steve Sarkisian Gets 100% Real on Expectations Around Arch Manning Amid Early Struggles

Arch Manning has been struggling to match the hype that analysts and fans created around him in the offseason this year. He was predicted to be among the top quarterbacks in the SEC, a Heisman Trophy candidate, and the No. 1 NFL Draft pick in 2026, had he declared.

Analysts like Paul Finebaum even made bold statements, saying Manning will prove to be among the best quarterbacks in the last decade, comparing him to college football legends like Tim Tebow.

While fans had some grace for Manning after his initial struggle during the debut against Ohio State, the debate around whether he should be declared a bust already started when Texas won against UTEP in a 27-10 matchup in Week 3, which should’ve been a dominant win.

Talking about what he expects from Arch Manning on the coming Saturday against Sam Houston, Steve Sarkisian said (via Inside Texas):

“I would say no. I would say we get a little different version in practice. Naturally, that’s kind of what I’m talking about: that ability to take Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and play with that same kind of confidence and intent on Saturday. That’s the part for us, is that we see and know what it looks like. My goal is that you all get to see that. That’s what we’re striving for. He had a great week. I’ve been proud of them for that.”

Tim Tebow Sends Straightforward Advice to Arch Manning

Arch Manning is under a lot of pressure due to his underwhelming performances in the last few games.

Former Florida Gators legend Tim Tebow had straightforward advice for the Texas quarterback ahead of the Week 4 game on the Rich Eisen show.

Tebow said Manning should play for the love of the game and not worry about being perfect.

“I would just encourage him, remember the love of the game, and play for it. You don’t have to make every play. You don’t have to be perfect. I have really appreciated the way that he’s carried himself for three years now…. People will keep talking. There’ll be praise and there’ll be criticism…. Just try to block it out, love the game, love your teammates, enjoy it,” Tebow said.

Manning has secured just 85 attempts with 579 yards and a total of six touchdowns and three interceptions this season.
