Both Florida and Texas have had a not-so-smooth start to the 2025 college football season. While the Longhorns fans had high hopes for Arch Manning, his performance so far has been underwhelming, making fans and analysts wonder if he was actually overhyped.
On the other hand, the Gators’ head coach, Billy Napier, is one of the most talked-about coaches in college football, sitting on the hot seat amid an overall record of 1-3 in the season so far.
Texas and Florida are set to meet in Week 6, and while Texas is the favorite heading into the matchup, Steve Sarkisian doesn’t plan to take it lightly. He said:
“Obviously, a very difficult place to play that has been known around the country is one of the more difficult places to play. They’ve been playing great defensive football all year, and they’ve got explosive playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. They’ve been off the mark just a little bit offensively, but it’s not for lack of players and it’s not for lack of scheme.”
Sarkisian also talked about how there are no easy games in the SEC schedule, as each game is equally important.
“There’s not a game on anybody’s schedule in our conference where you’re just like nobody really needs to tune into this one because we know what’s going to happen. I think everybody better buckle up every Saturday in our conference,” he added.

Texas was favored to win against UTEP with a huge margin; however, that didn’t go as planned, as the Longhorns just won with an overall record of 27-10.
Steve Sarkisian told the media after the Sam Houston game about his conversation with Arch Manning, saying he has a good relationship with the Texas quarterback where they can be open and honest with one another.
He shared that their meeting was more about just how he thinks Arch can play really good, and talked about the approach going forward, and how they’re going to try to get it done.
Sarkisian also talked about how many individuals gave him advice on how to fix Arch Manning. He thought to himself that they’re pretty good at having quarterbacks play good and would like to give himself one more shot before he hands the reins to someone else.
