“He’s Not Hanging His Head”: Steve Sarkisian Boldly Backs Arch Manning After Thrilling Mississippi State Win

Steve Sarkisian’s Texas was the favourite to win the national championship in 2025 for many fans and analysts; however, their journey has not been without hiccups so far.

The Texas QB Arch Manning had a massive hype ahead of the season, which quickly turned into a potential bust conversation as the Longhorns sit on a 6-2 overall record as of week 9.

However, things are starting to look brighter for Texas, as they clinched a 45-38 win over Mississippi State. Manning secured 29 passes on a total of 45 attempts, recording his career high of 346 yards, along with one interception and three touchdowns.

“I thought Arch battled his tail off,” Sarkisian commented after the game. “Again, I wish we played a little better around him at times. Wish we blocked a little better, maybe caught a couple more balls, but man, he’s a warrior. He battles, he competes, he takes hits, he gets back up. He stands in the midst of fire and continues to throw and I think he grew up a lot tonight, I will say that.

“I think our team grew up tonight. I think Arch Manning grew up tonight. You need moments like this. He does everything the right way… And people that do things the right way, sooner or later, the tide turns for you. He’s not trying to do more or different, or he’s not hanging his head. He just keeps working. And I think the work ethic showed itself there in the fourth quarter.”

Steve Sarkisian Brushes Off Rumors About Interest Regarding Coaching in the NFL

Before the game on Saturday, a rumor made headlines that said Steve Sarkisian had told his representatives that he would be opening in the NFL, including the Tennessee Titans.

However, Sarkisian was quick to deny the allegations and told the media that it really pisses him off that a person can make a report that is then marketed as a fact in the sports world, to the point that his agents had to release a statement explaining that he has no intentions of leaving for the NFL.

He further added that while the CAA, Jimmy Saxton and Ed Marynowitz never did something like that before, he had to protect his locker room and the team and thought it was absolutely ridiculous.
