Arch Manning has the name, but does he have the game? Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian named him the starting quarterback for the 2025 season. What’s next?

Arch Manning Has Everything After Being Named Starting Quarterback
Manning’s family lineage is well known as the nephew of Eli and Peyton Manning. He has signed lucrative NIL deals with companies like Red Bull, and now he has the final part of the Triple Crown as the Longhorns’ starting pivot.
Sarkisian revealed the news on the “Up and Adams” show, where he said, “It would be pretty tough for me to say he’s not going to be our starting quarterback.”
I’m now a Longhorn I think.
Also Arch Manning’s the starter.

“He started for us a couple of games last year. Played really good football. Our first game in the SEC against Mississippi State, he was our starting quarterback, you know? Quinn [Ewers] had been nicked up. So I think the exposure that he’s had, I think he’s ready for it. I think he’s ready for the moment. We have a pretty good team.”
Sarkisian was pretty nonchalant about Manning and the fact that he backed up Quinn Ewers in 2024, with Ewers now declaring for the NFL Draft.
Manning had solid numbers behind Ewers with two starts. He threw for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also rushed for 108 yards on 25 carries and scored four touchdowns on the ground.
Ohio State Buckeyes Are the Perfect Test
The Longhorns start the 2025 college football season against the national champion Ohio State Buckeyes on Aug. 30 in Columbus.
Texas will be looking for revenge for their 28-14 loss to the Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl last season and to start the 2025 season on the right foot.
Fan feedback was mixed, with Scott Eargle saying, “Disappointing they wasted a year of Arch by playing Quinn. I get what Sark was doing and being loyal, but Texas was a better team with Arch, and it’s a shame he’ll only have one season in college.”

Another fan said, “Arch Manning has all the physical tools necessary to become one of the best QBs in college football history when he is done. But it’s his superior work ethic that makes me so sure he will get there.”
Manning has all the tools and the hype. Now, let’s see what he does once the season starts.
