South Carolina may be a powerhouse in women’s basketball, but their football program has been lackluster for 2025, with the team having one of the worst records in the SEC. That being said, the Gamecocks have been losing players left and right, even before the transfer portal opened on Jan. 2, with several players announcing their intention to leave Shane Beamer’s program days or even weeks before the portal opened.
It had been a painful last few weeks as one player after another announced their intention of leaving South Carolina, some of whom have already found a new school since the transfer portal opened. However, Beamer has at least secured four commitments so far, but would that be enough to recoup their losses?

South Carolina Transfer Portal: Outgoing Players
- TE Michael Smith – To Syracuse
- OL Nick Sharpe – To Michigan State
- DL Zavion Hardy – To South Florida
- WR Emazon Littlejohn – To Western Michigan
- LB Jaron Willis – To Kansas
- K Peyton Argent
- OL Mac Walters
- OL Trovon Baugh – To Texas A&M
- WR Brian Rowe Jr.
- OL Cason Henry – To Louisville
- QB Air Noland
- OL Tree Babalade – To Nebraska
- LB Taeshawn Alston
- DT Chase Kibble
- DB Myles Norwood
- OL Rodney Newsom Jr.
- OL Boaz Stanley – To Purdue
- WR Vandrevius Jacobs
- OL Josiah Thompson
- OL Campbell Vandiver
- DE Jaylen Brown
There are some promising prospects leaving the gamecocks, such as former four-star QB Air Noland who had not played much due to LaNorris Sellers having a lot more playing time than any other South Carolina QB out there. Other more notable ones include tight end Michael Smith who has now jumped ship to Syracuse, as well as OL Nick Sharpe, who will be going to Michigan State.
South Carolina Transfer Portal: Incoming Players
- WR Jayden Gibson, Oklahoma
- DT Jordan Thomas, Georgia
- OL Carter Miller, UCF
- OL Hank Purvis, Purdue
The Gamecocks have had a decent haul so far, but Shane Beamer still has to dig a lot deeper into the transfer portal to make up for his losses. Sure, LaNorris Sellers is not going anywhere, but Beamer still has to construct a team around his star quarterback, and some good offensive linemen and a good wide receiver would certainly help.
