The Missouri Tigers and Kansas Jayhawks are slated to play in a Week 2 matchup on September 6. It is a return of the Border War rivalry, which has been on hold since 2011 because of conference realignment (Missouri left the Big 12 for the SEC in 2012). However, this year it is returning with an out-of-conference matchup.
On Thursday, Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham released an episode of the “Show Me Something” podcast. On the episode, the Missouri alum spoke passionately about her dislike for Kansas and excitement for the game.
“F*** KU, f*** KU,” Sophie Cunningham said. ” God, I love that Sh*t. If my knee was good I’d be jumping around this apartment right now. I’m so pumped for the Border War. God I hate Kansas. I hate em. But inject Mr. Brightside into my veins. Oh my god, I’m so hyped.”
Cunningham then spoke about her excitement at the rivalry returning for the first time since 2011.
“I’m so glad they’re bringing it back because at the end of the day it just brings back good memories for everyone. I love a good Border War. They always get out of hand and I get that. I hate Kansas,” she said.

While she did not explicitly say who her pick was for the game, it is clear she is pulling for Missouri to win the first Border War game in 14 years.

Looking Ahead to the Missouri vs. Kansas Week 2 Matchup
Heading into this Week 2 matchup between Missouri and Kansas, the stakes are fairly high. Both teams are looking to continue strong starts to their seasons and keep themselves at the top of their respective conferences. Kansas is one of the few teams to have played twice already, playing one of the Week 0 games. They are 2-0, having won both of their games, including a 46-7 win over Wagner in Week 1. Missouri is coming off a dominant 61-6 Week 1 win over Central AR.
While both teams have started strong, neither has had real tests against high-level competition yet. Their first test will come this week as they compete in the revival of the Border War in college football. According to FanDuel, Missouri is a -235 favorite to come out on top. The game is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
