Shedeur Sanders’ journey with the Cleveland Browns has not been ideal so far. After being picked as the 144th overall pick during the 2025 NFL draft, the Browns have not shown any excitement about potentially giving Shedeur opportunities like they’re giving to Dillon Gabriel.
After serving as the team’s 3rd quarterback, Shedeur was promoted to be the team’s backup quarterback after Joe Flacco’s exit; however, he has yet to take a snap on the field, with head coach Kevin Stefanski also announcing that he is not getting any reps with the first team as well.
After Shedeur Sanders was announced to be inactive for week 8’s game against the New England Patriots due to a back injury, and the fans saw Dillon Gabriel struggle on the field, some hypothesised that the ex-Colorado QB was not injured but was rather put on the inactive list so that they didn’t have to put him in the game.
Skip Bayless, who has been a Shedeur Sanders supporter, also tweeted during the Browns-Patriots game and said that it’s time for him to make a name for himself with Tom Brady’s LA Raiders, which has been valued at $7.7 billion.
“Time for Shedeur in Brady’s old stomping grounds.” Bayless tweeted on Sunday afternoon.

“Bailey Zappe was once drafted by Bill Belichick to replace Tom Brady,” Skip recalled. “If Belichick loved him, trust me, [Kevin] Stefanski loves him, and he will be elevated. He will be elevated to number two… He has no use for Shedeur Sanders. It’s going to take the owners stepping in and saying “no” to Stefanski.” Bayless also commented on Shedeur’s situation two weeks ago during an appearance on “The Arena.”

Shannon Sharpe Grills Kevin Stefanski Over Shedeur Sanders’ Situation at Cleveland
Ahead of the Cleveland Browns’ week 6 matchup against the Steelers, Stefanski was asked whether or not Shedeur Sanders will be named the backup quarterback behind Dillon Gabriel, to which he said, “let the week play out.”
During an episode on the ‘Nightcap’ podcast on October 13th, Shannon Sharpe grilled the Browns for the mockery they have made of this situation.
Sharpe dissected the “lt the week play out” statement and said he doesn’t know what to make of this. He added that he would understand if this was a training camp battle, letting it play out would make sense, but not currently.
