Michigan HC Sherrone Moore Reveals His 2 Proudest Moments

While being interviewed by media personality Adam Breneman on the Youtube channel “Next Up with Adam Breneman,” Michigan Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore was inquired about his proudest career moment. An immediate memory popped into his mind.

“I mean, the national championship has to be,” Moore responded.

He quickly pivoted to another memory, one that he says rivals the national championship game.

“A really right, close second is that Rose Bowl game,” Moore said. “That was probably one of the most incredible games that I’ve been a part of. The setting — Nick Saban vs. Jim Harbaugh.”

Moore, the current head coach for the Wolverines, was the offensive coordinator at the time under Harbaugh. The game, which was a College Football Playoff semifinals matchup played in the Rose Bowl, ended with a 27-20 Michigan victory.

The final score doesn’t tell the whole story however, as the Wolverines had to prevail through an overtime period to advance to the national championship game. Moore’s offense compiled 351 yards, led in part by 221 yards and three touchdown passes by quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

Harbaugh, despite being a quarterback at the college level, is considered a defensive-minded coach. Against the Crimson Tide, the Wolverines gave up only 288 total yards and held Alabama far below their season scoring average.

On the other sideline was the legendary head coach Saban, who had won six national championships in 17 seasons as the head coach in Tuscaloosa. He’s widely regarded as the best head coach in college football history.

In the end, Harbaugh and Moore’s Wolverines prevailed in the extra period after they held Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe short of the goal line on the final play.

It was a tremendous football game in a tremendous setting — a great moment for the Michigan program as well as a memorable moment for Moore.
