Should Sherrone Moore’s Alleged Partner Be Fired? Analyst Raises Tough Questions After Michigan Scandal

Sherrone Moore’s relationship scandal with an assistant, Paige Shiver, is by far the most sordid story of college football in 2025. The scandal brought Moore’s nascent head coaching career to an abrupt and unceremonious end.

There’s no doubt that Sherrone Moore is now paying dearly for this failure of character, facing up to six years of imprisonment. But is public opinion being too soft on Paige Shiver who was equally involved in the relationship?

Angela Rye of the “Native Land Pod” seems to think so, and she recently argued for more scrutiny on Shiver’s end during an episode of the show this week.

“And in that policy, they require that if you’re in a relationship with a subordinate, the supervisor must report the relationship. Well, he denied the relationship, and so did the subordinate. But she actively concealed text messages and denied the relationship. I don’t know what happened for her to break up with him, but I just think that in these situations, I want to know more. I want to know more about what happened. I’m not justifying his violent behavior at all, but I’m very curious to know… did she threaten him? Was this an extortion moment? What happened to make her say, ‘Now I’m going to report this relationship after denying it?’ And then two, I just feel like again, if a black woman were in the same position, one, she wouldn’t have got that 55% raise this young lady got, and two, I think that she would have been fired. I really do.” (1:50)

The University Of Michigan Targets Kyle Whittingham

It seems like the University of Michigan is seriously considering Kyle Whittingham to take over Sherrone Moore as the head coach of the Wolverines. Earlier this month, the University of Utah announced that Whittingham would be stepping down as the Utes head coach. When asked whether or not he would retire, the coach joked around and said he was simply “joining the transfer portal”.

Sources close to ESPN said that the coach would be interested in the job at Ann Arbor, and that the school authorities could start to seriously consider him as an option as soon as Friday.
