‘Trust the Process’ – Sherrone Moore Reveals Biggest Lesson From His First Season at Michigan

Michigan Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore discusses some of the lessons he learned from his first season as head coach.

Earlier in the week, Michigan Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore revealed a major lesson he learned from his first season as the program’s head coach.

While discussing last season and looking to next year with college football analyst Adam Breneman, Moore highlighted how important it was to not panic as a head coach, as everyone in the Wolverines program would feel this reaction.

What Did Sherrone Moore Say About His First Season As Head Coach?

Prior to this past campaign, Moore was named the Wolverines’ newest head coach after serving in numerous coaching roles on the offensive side of the ball since the 2018 season. Before becoming head coach, he served as the tight ends coach, the co-offensive coordinator, the sole offensive coordinator, the offensive line coach, and acting head coach.

Moore made clear that trusting the process was one of the most important lessons he learned in his first season as Michigan’s head coach.

“The biggest lesson is to trust the process,” Moore stated. “There’s a process that you wanna do things, and like you said, it doesn’t always go your way, but never panic. Once you hit the panic button as the head coach, the whole building feels it.”

    Michigan Wolverines’ 2024 Review

The Wolverines were strong in Moore’s first season as Michigan’s head coach. However, there was unquestionably a drop-off in talent and overall performance from their national championship-winning team the season before.

This past season, the Wolverines finished 8-5 and went 5-4 against fellow Big Ten opponents. On the offensive side of the ball, the program averaged only 22.0 points per game, ranking 115th in the country. However, the Wolverines were much better defensively, allowing just 19.9 points per game, which was good for 19th in the country.

Furthermore, the program defeated their rival Ohio State by a score of 13-10, their fourth-straight win over the Buckeyes.
