Shedeur Sanders’ Latest Injury Draws Support From Eagles Jalen Hurts Amid QB Woes

Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders has had one of the most up-and-down years of his life in 2025. He entered the year as a projected top pick in the draft but then fell to the fifth round on draft night before getting selected by the Cleveland Browns. Despite being passed over by every team in the league several times, Sanders entered training camp with a positive attitude.

This past week, Sanders got the opportunity to start the first preseason game for the Browns and performed well. Despite not officially moving up the depth chart, he put himself in a good position to move ahead of Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel at some point. However, on Wednesday, he suffered a setback. Insider Adam Schefter reported that Sanders suffered an oblique injury while throwing.

“Browns QB Shedeur Sanders suffered an oblique injury while throwing during the early portion of practice today, and was held out for the rest of the session.”

Later in the afternoon, a video was posted by the Bleacher Report X account with a caption saying that Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts gave him a ride in a cart off the field after his injury.

“Jalen Hurts gave Shedeur a ride after Sanders injured his oblique during practice. Hurts looking after Shedeur.”

Shedeur Sanders and the Browns Had a Joint Practice With the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday

The reason Jalen Hurts was around to give Shedeur Sanders a cart ride off the field was that the Browns and Eagles had a joint practice session on Wednesday morning. The practice lasted for an hour and 45 minutes. It was the first of what is expected to be a few joint practices this week.

The Browns and Eagles are scheduled to compete in a preseason game on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. It will be the second preseason game for both teams.

Shedeur Sanders was initially expected to play on Saturday. However, the severity of his oblique injury has not been revealed, so his status for the weekend is up in the air.
