Shedeur Sanders To Meet With Raiders, Building on Mutual Interest

The flirtation between University of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and the Las Vegas Raiders went to the next stage, with some National Football League insiders believing that he could be donning black and silver in the upcoming draft, especially as he was set to meet with the team on Monday (April 14) for a pre-draft visit.

NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero first reported the news on the Good Morning Football program earlier on Monday.

“The Raiders, sitting at No. 6, are in a position where if – if – Shedeur Sanders slides out of those top three spots, potentially, that could be in play,” he said.

The top three spots in the 2025 NFL Draft are held by the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and the New York Giants, respectively.

The Titans are expected to take University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the top pick, while the Giants QB room is seemingly full with the additions of veteran signal callers Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in the offseason.

Las Vegas has been busy at the position, acquiring Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks for a third-round pick and reuniting him with former head coach Pete Carroll, who’s serving the same role with the Raiders. Smith, 35, was signed to a two-year extension worth $75 million.

It wouldn’t prohibit the Raiders from selecting Sanders as their long-term quarterback choice, as he could potentially compete with Aidan O’Connell for the backup position.

It’s the latest bit of intrigue between Sanders and the Raiders, with their mutual admiration being a dominant storyline throughout 2024. Sanders met with Carroll and Raiders general manager John Spytek at the NFL Scouting Combine and also spoke highly of minority owner Tom Brady, who he had a relationship with as one of his NIL athletes.

“Tom Brady, he’s an all-time great,” Sanders said at the time. “Being able to have that resource, being able to have that person I’m able to talk to and call whenever I’m having questions about the game, he’s able to relate to it, because he did it at the highest level. It’s truly amazing. I’m thankful for that.”
