The video of the prank call has sparked huge backlash during the draft, as the rising star was caught off guard by the cruel joke, leaving everyone shocked and angry.

The video, shared on the “Well Off Media” YouTube channel by Deion Sanders Jr., shows Shedeur Sanders getting a call from an unknown number at his draft party in Texas. It happened during Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft, while Sanders anxiously waited for his name to be called.
The caller pretended to be the New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis. He told Sanders, “We’re gonna take you with our next pick right here, man.” Sanders got excited and replied, “Let’s be legendary.”
But then the caller dropped the prank bombshell: “But you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer. Sorry about that,” before quickly hanging up.

For a moment, Sanders was stunned, asking, “What does that mean?” The prank clearly took him by surprise. The draft’s stress and this cruel joke left him in shock.
Later, on the live stream, the Colorado QB reflected on the call, saying, “Nobody got that number but coaches, strictly for that reason. Why get mad? They want you to have a certain type of reaction to it.”
The video quickly went viral, raising serious concerns about how Sanders’ private phone number was exposed and misused. Fans across social media blasted the prank, calling it cruel and heartless, especially given how emotional the draft process already is.
One fan tweeted a single word, “Diabolical.” That same sense of outrage spread quickly across social media, with people showing support and sympathy for the young quarterback.
