Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders has had an uneventful preseason. Originally slated as the fourth-string QB on the roster, Sanders started the team’s first preseason game on Friday against the Carolina Panthers. With the Browns mostly playing backups and the Panthers playing many of their starters, it was expected to be a tough debut for Sanders.
Despite the adversity, Sanders went out and had a strong game. He completed 14 of 23 passing attempts for 138 yards and two TDs. He also rushed four times for 19 yards. It was a far better performance than many analysts were expecting. After the game, Shedeur Sanders did an interview where he sent a message to his father, Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime.
“Sorry pops, I ain’t do what I was supposed to do fully, but you know, we’ll live to see another opportunity,” Shedeur Sander said.

The interviewer mentioned that Coach Prime had been going crazy on social media during the game. He tweeted several times, but no tweet encapsulated his feelings about his son’s performance more than this one.
“Yes Lawd! Yes! Shedeur Sanders,” Deion Sanders wrote.

Shedeur Sanders Speaks About His Performance in His NFL Debut
Shedeur Sanders played for a little under three quarters before Tyler Huntley stepped in to get some reps. After the game, Sanders spoke about his performance and how he felt taking the field in his NFL debut.
“I’m comfortable with being uncomfortable, so that’s what it is,” Sanders said. “I got pockets of finding my rhythm, and I got to get into that quicker, regardless of anything. But overall, I felt like me out there, and I couldn’t do it, of course, without the time. I couldn’t do it without the playcalling. I couldn’t do without anything.”
Despite his strong performance, Sanders was humble when asked if he thought he played up to par. He said he felt like he could have played better, but the main goal was to win, and that is what they did. Despite being big underdogs in the game, the Browns defeated the Panthers 30-10.
After the game, head coach Kevin Stefanski said he was pleased with Shedeur’s performance, even though there were a few things he could improve.
