Shedeur Sanders Losing No. 2 Spot? Dan Orlovsky Backs Travis Hunter and Kirk Cousins for Browns

The Cleveland Browns currently hold the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

While there was talk that the Browns could take Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in that slot, the rumors could be dying down.

Dan Orlovsky Speaks on Shedeur Sanders

With Sanders being one of the top signal-callers in this draft, it is very likely that he will go early on.

Former NFL quarterback and ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky recently joined The Pat McAfee Show to discuss whether Sanders makes sense for Cleveland at pick No. 2.

“If I were the Browns, I would take Travis Hunter at two…If I was not deadset on taking a quarterback and I was getting Cousins, I got a chance now,” Orlovsky said.

If the Browns decide to go get Shedeur Sanders’ teammate, Travis Hunter, the Heisman winner will have the chance to help the Browns fight for a playoff spot.

However, that could all hinge on the team acquiring the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback Cousins.

    Landing Spots for Sanders

If Shedeur Sanders is not taken by the Tennessee Titans or the Cleveland Browns, the New York Giants could be the next best spot at pick No. 3 overall.

New York addressed the quarterback position this offseason by signing Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. However, they likely aren’t long-term options for the team trying to find its way. Sanders could come in and sit behind Wilson and Winston for the next year or two as he learns the ways of the NFL.

If the Giants elect not to draft Sanders, other teams that need a quarterback, such as the Las Vegas Raiders or the New Orleans Saints, could pursue him.

The Raiders’ ownership group includes Tom Brady, who has mentored Sanders in the past.

Regarding the Saints, the former Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year could sit behind a Pro Bowl quarterback in Derek Carr in an offensive-friendly system with new head coach Kellen Moore running the show in his first season.
