Shedeur Sanders Oblique Injury: Browns Rookie QB Faces Early Setback

Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders has had a tumultuous 2025. After initially being projected as a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft, he fell to the fifth round before being selected by the Cleveland Browns.

Despite falling in the draft, Sanders performed well last week when he got the opportunity to start a preseason game.

Things were looking up for Sanders, but on Wednesday, he suffered a setback. According to a report from insider Adam Schefter, Sanders suffered an oblique injury at practice.

“Browns QB Shedeur Sanders suffered an oblique injury while throwing during the early portion of practice today, and was held out for the rest of the session.”

There has been no further report about the severity of the injury.

Fans React to Shedeur Sanders’ Injury Setback

After the news that Shedeur Sanders suffered an oblique injury was reported, fans reacted in the comments on X. Some even called Sanders out for his lack of conditioning, which they believe led to the injury.

“This is why no one wanted him btw,” one fan wrote.

“Predictable. No conditioning and zero talent,” another commented.

“We were all wondering. glad he wasn’t just getting benched for no reason,” one fan added.

Fans continued to react in the comments.

“The Browns curse lives on,” one fan wrote.

“An oblique injury for Shedeur Sanders could impact his throwing motion and timing, so the Browns will likely be cautious with his recovery,” one fan commented.

“Tough break for Shedeur, hopefully just precautionary and nothing that lingers into the season,” a fan posted.

Injuries have been an issue for the Browns throughout training camp. Part of the reason Shedeur Sanders got the opportunity to start the first preseason game of the season was because Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel were both dealing with hamstring injuries.

Now that Sanders is dealing with injuries, it makes four Browns QBs who are struggling with injuries (including DeShaun Watson, who is out with an Achilles injury).

Despite dealing with injuries, both Pickett and Gabriel participated in practice on Wednesday. Pickett played with the first team in 7-on-7 drills, whereas Gabriel played on the second team. On 11-on-11 drills, Gabriel was with the second stringers.
