The Cleveland Browns’ quarterback room has just become significantly more crowded, and fans think it might spell trouble for rookie Shedeur Sanders’ time in Cleveland. With Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel nursing hamstring injuries and Sanders also carrying a sore shoulder, the Browns added one more arm.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Browns have agreed on a deal with QB Tyler “Snoop” Huntley, who was with the franchise for a brief time last season. Huntley was the backup quarterback to Lamar Jackson at the Baltimore Ravens from 2020 to 2023.

This new update, according to one fan, may result in Sanders getting traded.

“5 QBs and 2 spots. Will be interesting to see. I’m sure they keep at least 3. But some things have to shake out,” one fan speculated.
Others weren’t so diplomatic.
“Shedeur Sanders is not making the team 😳” wrote @HoodiDrake.
“Shedeur is that bad?” asked @Lucchesse29 bluntly.
“Shedeur practice squad phenom,” joked @NotLikeRuss.
Fans were quick to note the glaring omission of injured Deshaun Watson.
“Have they considered playing Watson? Didn’t they pay a bunch of money and give up 23 first-round picks for him?” questioned @crogers_htown.

Where Does Sanders Stand on Browns’ Preseason Depth Chart?
The Browns released their first preseason depth chart on Monday. Shedeur Sanders finds himself as fourth-string quarterback behind Joe Flacco (QB1), Kenny Pickett (QB2) and Dillon Gabriel (QB3).
On the Browns’ first depth chart of the season, they list their QBs in this order:
1. Joe Flacco
2. Kenny Pickett
3. Dillon Gabriel
4. Shedeur Sanders pic.twitter.com/p2hu5Oz9JR— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 4, 2025
Flacco, who’s a former Super Bowl champion, seems to be leading the QB1 race in the Browns quarterback room. Pickett, another veteran, has been struggling with a hamstring injury since last week. Meanwhile, former Oregon star rookie Gabriel, who was seen increasing first-team reps, is dealing with a similar injury as Pickett. Sanders, while currently at No. 4, can be pushed down further with the arrival of Tyler Huntley.
It’s five quarterbacks chasing for potentially two or three spots on the final 53-man roster. Sanders, while being appreciated for good performances during OTAs, may not have done enough to reserve a place on the final roster.
According to Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, the preseason period will determine the QB1 for the season. While he has a “tentative plan” in place for when he would announce his starter, right now nothing is final.
“I have a plan that’s in pencil, and we have to take in information every single day, take in how guys are handling certain situations, and then adjust from there. But we’ll get to those types of decisions later on,” Stefanski said. “I think the big thing for me is putting our guys in a position where we can evaluate them. I think they did a great job in the spring. All four of those guys, I will continue to put them in some situations, but ultimately, we’d love to make decisions sooner than later.”
All things considered, Sanders is not in a good position to make the final roster.
