NFL Draft 2025 Shocker: Shedeur Sanders Will Not Be There

Leading up to Thursday’s big day, a significant debate on TV and among college football fans worldwide centers on which team will select Deion Sanders, the Hall of Famer’s son.

Amid these speculations and debates, reports have emerged that the son of “Coach Prime” will not be in attendance on the big day. A veteran commentator believes they know the reason.

Sanders had been considered a favorite to be the first overall pick in the 2025 draft. However, he is now viewed as a polarizing prospect.

While Sanders has maintained a 74% pass completion rate and won an annual quarterback award, many experts and fans believe the quarterback holds onto the ball for too long. Additionally, some have questioned his athleticism.

Addressing the potential absence of Sanders at the NFL Draft 2025, Skip Bayless stated that the decision was not about privacy or preference but rather a move to avoid the public spectacle that can sometimes be overwhelming.

Bayless suggested that the quarterback does not want to be involved in any embarrassing draft-night slide.

“I am still convinced that Shedeur has declined that invitation because he’s just sick and tired of all the endless negativity,” the veteran commentator said.

He also mentioned Sanders’s dislike of “Green Room” drama, a familiar narrative in NFL history.

“And he also does not want to be stuck in the ‘green room’ getting shamed on national TV if he falls all the way through the first round as some are predicting he will,” added Bayless.

Playing under his father for two years at Colorado, Sanders amassed 7,364 passing yards, 64 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions, achieving a 71.8% pass completion rate.

Moreover, the 212-pound quarterback led the country in completion rate (74%) and had the fourth-most passing yards in 2024.

While these numbers contributed to his consideration as a top-10 pick, the possibility of being snubbed in the first round has increased in the days leading up to Thursday due to evaluations from analysts and scouts who have likely caused Sanders to see the murkier part of the draft board.
