IN PICS: Shedeur Sanders’ Teammate Dillon Gabriel and Fiancee Zoe Caswell Celebrate 1-Year Engagement Anniversary With Throwback Snaps

Cleveland Browns backup quarterback Dillon Gabriel may be busy as he and his teammates, including fellow rookie backup quarterback Shedeur Sanders, are busy preparing for the 2025 NFL season. Despite this, Gabriel has plenty to celebrate, most notably the one-year anniversary of his engagement with fiancee Zoe Caswell.

Caswell, who has been dating Gabriel for years, took to Instagram and posted some throwback images of when the then-Oregon Ducks QB proposed to her. The pics included the two on a beach and the moment she said yes, as well as the ring Gabriel proposed with.

“One year engaged @dillongabriel,” she posted on Instagram.

The two started dating when they were still in high school and this continued through college, with her going wherever he went, including Oklahoma and Oregon. When he transferred to Oregon for his senior year, she also transferred out of Oklahoma to join him over at Eugene.

Caswell has previously said that they met around sixth to seventh grade and admitted that she initially thought that he was “weird.”

“We met in the summer of 6th-to 7th grade actually, because we were both new to this school. We had a little orientation class. We met gardening, funny enough. He kept coming closer and closer to me and I was like, ‘Who’s this weird guy?’” she said in an interview.

Caswell then admitted that she had never imagined her life to turn out this way and added that she has been watching a lot of football ever since.

Dillon Gabriel Will Now Wear Jersey No. 8 After Kenny Pickett Trade

As for Dillon Gabriel himself, the rookie QB was actually affected by the Kenny Pickett trade, as he will now be wearing the No. 8 jersey. This was Pickett’s jersey number before the Browns traded him to the Las Vegas Raiders.

The No. 8 is very special to Gabriel, as he wore No. 8 during his two years at Oklahoma and his one year at Oregon. However, when the Cleveland Browns drafted him during the third round of the 2025 draft, Pickett was already wearing that jersey number, so he had to settle with the No. 5 jersey instead. The Pickett trade changed things, which means he could wear his old college number once again.

Veteran Joe Flacco, one of the oldest players in the team, will be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns heading into Week 1. They will open the new 2025 regular season against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
