Fans Think Shane Beamer is Lying About LaNorris Sellers and Co’s Inflated Salaries

Quarterback LaNorris Sellers and defensive end Dylan Stewart are back with South Carolina for another year. Under head coach Shane Beamer, the Gamecocks didn’t have a good season, winning just four games.

With two key players returning, it’s obvious that their deals with the program will be discussed. While the news about them running it back with the Gamecocks is well known, there’s very little detail available on their contracts.

Amid the speculations, SportsTalk Media Network on X posted a rough figure, citing a source.

“A source confirmed for us Tuesday night that the two deals signed by South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers and defensive end Dylan Stewart combined will cost in the neighborhood of $5 million from the school’s rev share total,” SportsTalk Media Network wrote.

Beamer, who is very active on the platform, called them out for the same and labeled the claim a blatant lie.

“Sounds to me like you need some much better sources,” he wrote. “This isn’t even remotely close to being true.”

By “isn’t even remotely close,” the coach must’ve meant that the number isn’t as high as $5 million. However, fans took it differently and responded to Beamer.

“Let me translate – ‘Not remotely close… it’s sooo much more’,” a fan wrote.

“Come on coach, everyone knows LS is getting $6M just by himself!” a fan wrote.

“It’s probably true lol,” a fan wrote.

“Pretty concerning lack of transparency considering its a state university where the children of South Carolina are racked by student loan debt to get a degree. Grads can’t even get a job nowadays bc “outsourcing” & rampant H1B visa fraud. So how much are the players being paid?” a fan wrote.

“To be fair, it was widely reported that last year Sellers made a little over $3 mill & Stewart $2 mill so did they get a pay cut? I highly doubt they are now getting paid less so….” A fan wrote.

Clearly, fans aren’t convinced by Beamer’s statement. Even though he openly refuted the claims, it has not done anything to change public opinion.

LaNorris Sellers and Dylan Stewart Would Hope For a Better Season

Heading into the 2025 season, Sellers had a lot of hype around him. He was being seen as a potential first-round NFL pick if his season went well and he declared for the league after that. Unfortunately, it didn’t go well for him.

He finished the season with 2,437 yards, 13 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Stewart, on the other hand, finished with 33 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles.

Both players now have multiple responsibilities on their shoulders for the next season. If they have a great run in 2026, not only will they help the Gamecocks improve their record, but they will also be one of the top NFL prospects for the next draft.
