Seneca Wallace Joins the St. Louis Battlehawks Coaching Staff Under Rocco Becht’s Father

On Wednesday, Feb. 19, Wallace announced his new role on social media. He expressed enthusiasm about mentoring quarterbacks at the professional level and was eager to “elevate our game and lead the next generation of talent.”

Anthony Becht, who is entering his third season in charge, also shared his excitement. He praised Wallace’s experience as a former NFL quarterback and highlighted his ability to develop the team’s QB room. Becht, a former NFL tight end, has been steadily building a strong foundation for the Battlehawks, leading them to a 7-3 record last season.

Wallace is an Iowa State football legend. He led the team to the 2001 Independence Bowl and the 2002 Humanitarian Bowl during his two seasons with the Cyclones.

His electrifying play earned him All-Big 12 honors, and in 2019, he was inducted into the Iowa State Athletics Hall of Fame. Many fans still recall his famous 12-yard touchdown scramble against Texas Tech, a play that covered nearly the entire field.

Following his college success, Wallace enjoyed a decade-long NFL career. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2003 and later played for the Browns, Packers, Saints, and 49ers. After retiring, he transitioned into coaching, working with the Dallas Cowboys and coaching high school football.

Wallace’s arrival in St. Louis further strengthens the Battlehawks’ Iowa State connections. Former Cyclone receiver Hakeem Butler, the UFL’s 2024 Offensive Player of the Year, remains a key part of the team. Additionally, former TCU star and Iowa native Max Duggan is one of the quarterbacks Wallace will now coach.
