EA Sports announced its top 25 team rankings just three weeks before the highly anticipated release of College Football 25. Two conferences stood above the rest, as the SEC and Big Ten each had seven teams. However, the Big Ten snuck in with Iowa at No. 25, while all of the SEC’s schools made the top 17.
7 SEC Teams Make EA Sports College Football 25 Power Rankings
Surprising no one, Georgia will be the highest-rated team in the game at 95. Alabama and Texas weren’t too far behind, with the Crimson Tide (No. 4) and the Longhorns (No. 5) cracking the top five with 92 overalls. LSU (No. 8, 90), Texas A&M (No. 14, 88), Ole Miss (No. 15, 88), and Oklahoma (No. 17, 87) rounded out the conference’s offering in the top 25 rankings.
It’s fair to say Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and perhaps even LSU and Oklahoma are solidly ranked, but the two in the middle are interesting.
The Aggies will launch with the No. 18 offense (85) and No. 19 defense (84). So, 18 + 19 = 14? Ole Miss is likely underrated in the eyes of most, but they might be overrated in terms of EA’s logic.
Although the Rebels earned the No. 13 offense at 87 overall, the defense didn’t make the top 25. So how are they the 15th-best team in the country?
Seven teams in the top 25 may seem like a lot, but in College Football Network’s ranking of all 134 FBS teams, nine SEC schools made the top 22.
Missouri (No. 9) and Tennessee (No. 17) were the two teams left off EA’s list. While Tennessee didn’t have a top-25 offense or defense, making the Volunteers’ absence understandable, the developers gave Missouri the ninth-highest-rated offense in the game (89).
If Ole Miss got in with the No. 13 offense but an unranked defense, just how low will the Tigers’ defense be rated?
