    Sawyer Robertson Landing Spots

With the Transfer Portal opening up, starting Baylor Quarterback Sawyer Robertson has decided to enter the market after his first season as a starter for Texas University.

This comes following a huge shakeup in the Quarterback market. The Tennessee Volunteers chose to release Nico Iamaeva after his NIL deal turmoil, and Robertson is one of the favorites among potential candidates to replace him.

Sawyer Robertson Made Baylor Starting Spot His Own

After sitting out his first year in the NCAA as a 4-star recruit, after being redshirted by the Mississippi State Bulldogs in 2021, Robertson entered the transfer portal in 2023.

After transferring to Baylor, it was clear that Robertson would once again be riding the bench; however, following an injury to the starting quarterback, Blake Shapen, the former Bulldogs Quarterback was allowed to shine.

In his first full season as a starter, Robertson shone, throwing for 3,071 yards, 28 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. The Baylor Quarterback was ranked as the 5th-best QB in NCAA Football according to ESPN’s QBR, ahead of players like Will Howard and Jalen Milroe.

After his breakout season with Baylor, the quarterback will be one of the hottest available on the market, and he will most likely be looking to sign up for a school that will start him.

    Tennessee Volunteers

The Tennessee Volunteers look poised to add Sawyer Robertson to their roster following the loss of Nico Iamaleave, who went for 2,930 yards and 21 touchdowns last season. Sawyer Robertson could be the perfect potential choice to succeed the former Tennessee Quarterback. With the two having similar playstyles as Mobile Pocket Passers, Robertson could seamlessly fit into the Volunteers’ offensive scheme.

Tennessee’s two Quarterbacks, who started for them during their Spring Game, are George MacIntyre and Jake Merklinger. Both are currently ranked as four-star prospects; however, neither boasts the same experience as Robertson. The Volunteers will be looking to kick on following their CFP run last season.

    Tulane Green Wave

Should Tennessee fail to secure Sawyer Robertson, another program currently in need of a quarterback is Tulane. The Volunteers’ former quarterback, Iamaleave, was most recently rejected by Tulane. They could instead go for a cheaper option in Baylor’s Quarterback, who looks poised to have a breakout year in 2025.

Most recently, Tulane lost its starting Quarterback, Freshman Darian Mensah, to the Duke Blue Devils in a deal that, according to reports, made him one of the highest-paid Quarterbacks of the NIL era.

    South Alabama Jaguars

South Alabama is currently looking all but guaranteed to lose its starting quarterback, Gio Lopez, who threw for 2,559 yards and 18 touchdowns as a redshirt freshman last season, to Bill Belichick’s North Carolina side.

This leaves them weak in the Quarterback position, with a group of Freshmen who have taken no significant snaps and sophomore Bishop Davenport, who threw for 600 yards last season.
