The fallout is just getting started for the Texas Longhorns after failing to qualify for the College Football Playoff despite being ranked as the No. 1 team in the preseason polls. The latest consequences of the bad season were reported on Thursday by On3, as running back Quintrevion Wisner is planning to enter the NCAA transfer portal. The decision comes ahead of the scheduled Citrus Bowl postseason matchup against the Michigan Wolverines.
In the last three seasons, Wisner made 38 appearances and started 20 games in the backfield. He has carried 369 times for 1,734 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. He also caught 66 passes for 457 yards and two more scores. His exit is notable because he was the leading rusher for Texas in the past two seasons, recording 357 carries for 1,661 yards and eight touchdowns.

After the news got out, fans have started to blame head coach Steve Sarkisian and the program for losing out on such talent in transfer portal.
“Sark has lost the locker room,” one fan commented.
“All that money on a roster and didint even make the playoffs.. Money can’t buy development,” another fan commented.
“Transactional program finding out what’s it’s like to be a transactional program,” one fan wrote.
“Checks bouncing in Austin,” one fan joked.
“This would be a solid pickup for anyone in need of an RB next year. Not glaring numbers, but an experienced player with a lot of upside,” one fan wrote.
“Wants to play with a better QB,” one fan took a dig at starting quarterback Arch Manning.

Steve Sarkisian Changes Voice After CFP’s Decision On Texas
After posting a 9-3 record in the regular season, the College Football Playoff committee placed Texas at No. 13, as they missed the playoffs.
Before the committee’s decision, Sarkisian pleaded his case that Texas deserved to be in the playoffs. He even went on to say that it “would be a disservice to our sport” if his team didn’t find a place in the playoffs. However, the head coach changed his tune once the decision was declared.
“I guess I’m at a point now where we can agree to disagree on what the principles and the parameters are on what makes up one of the best 12 teams in the country to play in the playoff,” Sarkisian said. ” … What I’ve learned out of this whole thing is we got to control what we can control, and we got to win more games, and we got to win the games that are right in front of us. And clearly we didn’t do enough of that this year.”
Sarkisian faces a tall task in the offseason as he will have to retain his talent while also making sure to address his roster’s weaknesses through the upcoming transfer portal.
