‘Ryan Williams Is So Bad’: CFB Fans React As Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama Secure Commitment From 5-Star WR Cederian Morgan

Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama has gotten a commitment from five-star recruit Cederian Morgan. Morgan is the 11th top recruit, the second-best wide receiver in the nation and the top overall prospect in the state of Alabama in the class of 2026, according to 247Sports.

Morgan’s commitment is a major win for Alabama’s class of 2026 recruitment efforts, and one that fans are welcome to hear:

“Building the wide receiver room,” wrote one fan.

“LETS GOOOOOOOO THATS ANOTHA ONE,” celebrated another.

“And he could change his mind tomorrow. I’m sorry. Commitments don’t excite me anymore,” a fan commented.

Other people mocked other schools for their lack of ability to compete for Morgan’s services:

“Damn, he lives 30 minutes from @AuburnFootball and they didn’t make his Top 4. Freeze is done,” joked one person

Others thought Morgan made the wrong choice:

“Colorado is on the rise unlike alabama,” said a Coach Prime fan.

“Over Florida but still bad decision young man,” said another.

Others think this is an indictment of some of the players already on the Alabama roster:

“Ryan Williams is so bad they’re already replacing him 😂😂😂” joked a fan.

Cederian Morgan was a multisport athlete at Benjamin Russell High School. In his junior season last year, he had 70 catches for 1162 yards (16.6 yards per catch) and 14 touchdowns. His team reached the first round of the state playoffs. He also represented the school in track and field and basketball.

Morgan earned a silver medal in the Alabama 6A high jump championship, and clocked at 21.74 in the 200-meter. In basketball, he was an All-Outlook first-team selection, while averaging 14.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. His team reached the Sweet 16 of Alabama’s Class 6A playoffs.

Paul Finebaum on how things can improve for Alabama in 2025

Some have criticized Kalen DeBoer for his inability to bring double-digit wins or a bowl victory in his first season in charge of Alabama. While some might say that it was to be expected in the first season of the post-Nick Saban era, expectations are always high at Tuscaloosa.

Regardless, coming into the 2025 season, analysts seem to think that things look better. One of those analysts is Paul Finebaum, who this week on “Get Up” said the following:

“I am going with more, and I know exactly what happened last year in Kalen DeBoer’s first season, but this team is better,” Finebaum said on Get Up. “He has a better quarterback, Ty Simpson, you may not have heard of him. Jalen Milroe was great and he was also ice cold at times. Simpson, I think is serviceable. He will lead this offense.

“The defense is the best Alabama has had since about seven or eight years ago. And I think Alabama has a legitimate shot at winning the SEC and the national championship.”

Not only will Kalen DeBoer have a quarterback with a better fit for his style of play, but he will also have long-time associate Ryan Grubb as his offensive coordinator. Initially, Grubb was going to be the Alabama offensive coordinator for 2024, but he decided to forgo the chance to be the Seattle Seahawks’ offensive coordinator for the season.
