Colorado Buffaloes junior Ryan Staub has rightfully earned the comparison to a great historical figure after his most recent performance. On Saturday, Sept. 6, coach Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes squad won their first game of the 2025 college football season after they defeated the Delaware Blue Hens by 24 points, 31-7, on their home pitch, the Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado.
During post-game interviews, in a video posted by @DNVER_Buffs on X/Twitter, Staub was asked about his decision to stay put at Colorado despite not getting much playing time in the first two years of collegiate football. But for Staub, he reiterated that he had a vision for his time with the Buffaloes as he quoted beloved civil rights activist Martin Luther King.
“I just had a dream. I saw something and just wanted to chase it. I love being here, I love playing for Coach Prime, and man, I’m just so blessed that I got the opportunity. All I needed was that opportunity, and we got more work to do,” Staub detailed. (0:14)
When coach Sanders was then asked how he plans on continuing the momentum they gained from the win, he alluded to Staub and compared him to Martin Luther King.
“I got a plan, like I had a plan to this game. I have a plan. I don’t know if I’m going to disclose it until we get to our destination but, I saw what everybody else saw today. Martin Luther Stuab, that’s what he said. He had a dream, right?,” Sanders said.

Deion Sanders Asserted That All That Ryan Staub Needed To Succeed Was An Opportunity
During the post-game interview that @DNVR_Buffs posted on X/Twitter, Deion Sanders was asked about his general thoughts on the impressive performance that Ryan Staub put up. Sanders asserted that he already knew that Staub could play like he did against the Delaware Blue Hens, and all he needed was an avenue to shine.
“I saw what I been seeing in practice for the last few years like this is who he is, who he’s always been. He just need the opportunity, that’s all he needed,” Sanders shared. (0:02)
Staub and the rest of coach Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes will now set their sights on their third game of the campaign. On Friday, Sept. 12, Staub and Co. are set to face the Houston Cougars in the TCDEU Stadium in Houston, Texas.
