The Ryan Grubb Era Starts Here: Alabama To Highlight His WRs Against

Ryan Grubb’s arrival at Alabama as the new offensive coordinator is one of the biggest stories heading into the 2025 season. Grubb made his name at Washington, where he built one of the top offenses in college football.

In 2023, Washington led the country in passing yards per game. He’s also known for turning good quarterbacks into stars and helping receivers shine. Now, he’s expected to bring that same magic to Alabama.

College football analyst Joe DeLeone shared his thoughts on “The Ruffino & Joe Show – Weekly College Football.”

“Dude, they’re going to wax Florida State. Look, we talked about this in the Alabama preview. There is going to be some questions that need to be answered. Like, we gotta see what Austin Mack’s going to be like. We gotta see if the defense is going to be more hard-nosed and consistent,” DeLeone explained.

“We gotta see if there is going to be overall better decision making. And I have faith in that.”

DeLeone highlighted how Grubb’s offense will lift Alabama, especially with his blueprint for maximizing wide receivers.

“I think Ryan Grubb is so good at finding premier talent and maximizing it at receiver, just like he did at Washington,” he added.

Alabama hasn’t named a starting quarterback yet, but Ty Simpson looks like the early frontrunner. Fans can also expect to see five-star freshman Ryan Williams play a big role. Grubb’s leadership could pave the way for another breakout SEC receiver, a trait the offensive coordinator gained popularity for during his tenure with the Huskies.

Meanwhile, Florida State will try to stop Alabama’s new offense, but they have concerns. Defensive consistency, decision-making, and roster gaps could hurt them against Grubb’s fast, dynamic style.

DeLeone added, “So many ugly roster holes at this Florida State team. I mean, like this could be a, you know, a game where they get completely, completely worked because Grubb is just cooking.”

If Alabama rolls past the Seminoles in Week 1, it will show how powerful Grubb’s offense can be. This will demonstrate that Grubb’s leadership could potentially shift the power dynamics in the SEC.
